POOR CONDITION OF NANDGANJ – SHADIYABAD ROAD RAISES SAFETY CONCERNS

Residents and daily commuters are expressing serious concern over the deteriorating condition of “Nandganj -Shadiyabad” road in Ghazipur district, just a year after it was repaired. The road, which was renovated last year with public funds, has once again fallen into disrepair, causing inconvenience and posing risks to motorists,E rickshaws,Cars and pedestrians and cycle users alike.
Large potholes, broken stretches of asphalt, uneven surfaces, and waterlogging have become common sights along the road. With increasing traffic movement, especially heavy vehicles, the damaged road has turned into a potential accident zone. Local residents report frequent traffic jams and vehicle breakdowns due to the poor condition of the roadway.
According to commuters, the repair work carried out last year did not appear to meet expected quality standards. “The road was repaired only a year ago, but now it is worse than before. It seems the materials used were substandard,” said a local shopkeeper whose business is located along the road side.
The situation worsens during rainfall, as water accumulates in potholes, making them difficult to detect and increasing the chances of accidents. Two-wheeler riders and school transport vehicles are particularly vulnerable. Residents claim that minor accidents have already occurred due to sudden braking and loss of control.
This road serves as an important link for surrounding villages and is a key route for transportation of agricultural goods and daily commuters traveling to nearby town and villages . Its deteriorating condition not only affects daily life but also hampers local economic activity.
Citizens have urged the concerned authorities and the Public Works Department (PWD) to conduct an immediate inspection and ensure durable repair work. They are demanding accountability regarding last year’s repair project and are calling for transparency in the use of public funds.
Local residents hope that swift action will be taken before a major accident occurs. Ensuring proper road infrastructure is essential for public safety and regional development, and authorities are expected to respond promptly .
